Balance Is Key When You Have A Type-A and Type-B Personality At The Same Time

I am equally obsessed with planning as I am with living in the moment.

We all know people with classic Type-A personalities who are always working, never resting or sitting still, and planning their goals, and turning everything into a competition. Type-B personalities are the opposite, they are go-with-the-flow, laid-back people who enjoy the process of getting things done.

I don’t think Type A/B personalities even exist, because I have both of those traits. Or maybe my brain chemicals are just really confused.

As soon as I wake up in the morning, I am Type-B all the way. I am not a morning person at all, so it takes me a while to actually roll out of bed, but it’s okay because that’s just me enjoying the process. No one can rush me because I need to fully wake up before I start my day, no matter how long it takes. I find comfort in telling myself everything happens for a reason and what’s meant to be will be, which I usually use as an excuse to watch Netflix instead of doing important things.

But there are definitely other times when a true Type-B person would look at me like I am a certified crazy person. When it comes to being neat and organized in my room, I couldn’t imagine not being Type-A. Everything has a place where it belongs and clutter is my worst enemy. My bed needs to be made everyday and the notifications on my phone must be cleared as soon as possible. My days are planned down to the hour in my planner; I will plan out my day before going to sleep because it is a calming activity for me.

Sometimes sitting in traffic jams makes me enraged, and other times I take it as an opportunity to listen to music and perform a concert in my car. I love yoga because it’s so peaceful, but I also love going to the gym to lift weights and push myself. I have about 9 different types of to-do lists going on in an organized chaos situation, but most of the things don’t get done and that’s all right with me. It can sometimes come across like I am being too relaxed and that I don’t care, or that I’m being too controlling and high-strung.

I have found my balance and that’s how I function best, so I don’t believe I am a definite Type-A or Type-B personality. I do think that how we each deal with stress and anxiety affects our traits and behaviors, and the best thing for any personality type to do is find what makes them feel balanced and live in a way that works for them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
