Things I Promise To Do For You

79
To My Roommates

We are only just beginning our adventures together as roommates, but I can already tell our time living together are going to be some of the best days. College is such an amazing time, the adventures we've already taken and those that are yet to occur throughout this year will make our time in college unforgettable. Through our year living together, I have a few promises for you. I promise to...

1. Laugh together

We are all already aware that when we are together we tend to laugh...a lot. We've laughed at the stupid things we did/said, how we feel about things, and even at the terrible jokes I try to share. I'm looking forward to the continued laughter that will fill our house.

2. Be there through the good times

I promise to be excited with y'all on the days you make the traveling squad, get a good grade on the test you've studied immensely for, get the news that you got the internship, reach a PR, and so much more. I'm excited to celebrate so many things with y'all!

3.Be there on the bad days

The bad days will come when Satan is trying so hard to beat you down, but I can promise we will tell him "not today, Satan" and fill your mind with scripture and truth that comes from Jesus alone. Those days are bound to happen, but know you will not face them alone.

4. Remind you who God created you to be

God has a plan for each one of us, and I am excited to see how each one of our lives unfolds. I'm excited to be able to support each other and constantly remind y'all who God intended you to be. God intended you to be women after His own heart—loving, gracious, kind, forgiving, etc. I promise to remind you that God has a plan and created you for a specific purpose that no one else can fill.

5. Be a listening ear

I will always be here for you to vent to. If you want advice or my opinion about something, I will give it. But if you just need someone to listen, I will do that too.

6. Have late night conversations

Although these have already occurred, I promise to continue to have those late night conversations about whatever it is we so choose to discuss.

7. Keep you accountable

I promise to keep you accountable in whatever it is you ask of me. As a sister in Christ, I most definitely promise to keep you accountable in your walk with the Lord, as that is the foundation of our lives.

8. Pray for you

Whatever it is you need prayer for, I will be happy to pray. Prayer changes so much and I will always be ecstatic to know how I can be praying for each one of my roommates.

So, as this school year begins, I am excited to see us grow closer as friends and sisters in Christ. I'm thankful that the Lord placed us to live with each other and for the opportunity to be y'all's roommate.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
